I drank a GALLON of water a day for a WEEK **help meee**
So, I just saw a really good YouTube video about this woman who drinks 1 gallon of water for a week and it really inspired me. I've been reading about the benefits of drinking water for a while and everyone's like, "DRINK WATER" and I'm like "Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh mAYbE?!?!" But I want to accept the challenge!! My plan is to drink 1 gallon of water every day. I will be logging my day to day experiences on it and also give little tips I found helpful. For example, I don't really like flat old water, so I will be giving some suggestions on how to make the water more appetizing such as infusing the water (I will include those recipes) and using sparkling, or flavored water.
For some of you who don't know all of the advantages of drinking water, here are some:
DAY 2: I took my first sip at about 9:30 so I'm having a little bit of trouble starting because I'm a bit less enthusiastic about drinking water today. I'm having a really hard time finishing my first bottle and it's almost 2 and I'm only halfway done with my first bottle of water. However, yesterday after I finished my full gallon, I went to dinner and I had a soda, so it's okay to spread out how long it takes me to finish my water. Now it is 6 and I only finished my first water bottle so I'm really behind. I'm just watching a movie with my family and just chugging water! I completely finished my gallon a little past 10. Today's water drinking effects haven't been very different from yesterday's except for that I feel kind of bloated having to sit and drink a lot of water near the end of the day.
DAY 3: I woke up around 10:30 a.m. so I'm getting a little bit of a later start. It is now 3:30 and I'm halfway through my first bottle. It's harder today because I really physically don't want to intake water and I'm just not very thirsty. I think today's been my hardest day. I also have gotten a headache and have been feeling quite bloated throughout the day including several stomach aches. I'm really hoping that the end of the day will be better. I just finished my first full bottle of water at 5 so I'm doing a bit better than yesterday. I also just realized that I have only used is plain ice water this whole week and I wanted to switch it up, so I'm going to do celery, lemon, mint infused water. I have continued to have a hard time and finished my full gallon at 10;30 which is my worst time yet. I have to say that it was SO much harder to drink the infused water because it didn't feel as light as normal water. However, it tasted really good and is really good for your skin too. Today has kind of been a bust still because it as so hard to drink all my water!!
For some of you who don't know all of the advantages of drinking water, here are some:
- Clear Skin
- Much More Energy
- Fewer Headaches
- Stops Bloating (which is weird because usually, I feel bloated after drinking water. Especially before exercising and ballet soooo)
- Helps you lose weight
- Keeps you full and not craving junk food
- Improves Digestion
- Better Performance
- Gets Rid of Eye Circles
- Helps Your Brain Work and Your Thinking Clear
- Fights Overheating and Regulates your Sweat
- I don't drink any water ever so this will be going from 1 to 100
- I am worried I will feel bloated and have stomach pain
- I drink tea a lot, so I will pour out some of the water from my jug to make my tea so it all evens out hopefully
- I'm also concerned that I won't be able to complete a gallon a day because that seems like a lot right now
- I think I will have to use the bathroom A TON and that will be annoying
Daily Logs:
DAY 1: I woke up pretty early like 8:30 a.m. and took my first sip of the day! Today I'm just using plain ice water. one of the benefits of drinking water I heard was losing weight. I mean I don't actually care about that but I know some people do drink water for that reason so I wanted to know if that worked so I just weighed myself today. As I said in part 1, I drink tea a lot. So, this week when I'm having tea I'm going to measure out the part of my water bottle that I would use for my tea water and then make tea like normal. I usually do that in the morning so I just made that now. I'm really feeling a big head start because it is only 9:30 and I'm about halfway done with my first water bottle. Every water bottle is half a gallon, so I'm going to be drinking two of those a day. Throughout the day I had to use the bathroom so much!! It was kind of hard for me to remember to drink water so I'd end up drinking water for like 3 minutes straight, then not drinking any water for half an hour. I think I'll get better at that. I found today that the last quarter of my water bottle is the hardest to finish for some reason, but it is a little bit before 12:30 and I just finished my first water bottle so I only have one to go for the day! Waaahooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! It is almost 5:00 currently and I am only halfway through my second bottle of water. For me, the morning was a lot easier. But now it is 7:20 p.m. and I just finished my first gallon! Go Me!! Overall, I didn't feel bloated or have any headaches today which was good. I also felt more awake in the morning but I didn't feel like my energy was boosted throughout the day. And I had to use the bathroom a thousand million times which was not fun. I'm excited for tomorrow!!

DAY 4: Since, the last a couple of days, I've gotten done with my gallon quite late, I really wanted to get a head start so I woke up at 8 and filled my water bottle! Yesterday I thought that it was a little bit harder for me to drink water when it was infused. I'm not entirely sure why, but it just felt lighter when it was just plain water. However, I still recommend infused water, just not when you're trying to drink a lot of water. Right now it is 2:45 and I am almost done with my first water! My goal is to finish it by 3. Today has been noticeably easier and as I hoped, I finished just before 3. I'm feeling really great actually. I'm even thirsty! So, let's get started on my next bottle! I have to say, I kind of forgot to drink my water for a couple of hours, but I made it up and finished around 9! That's a major improvement! Tomorrow I hope I can do even better. Getting an earlier start really really helped me.
DAY 5: Today, I woke up pretty early, got some tea, and thought that today would be a lot better than yesterday. I was in the car a lot this morning, and kind of forgot to drink my water AGAIN, and finished my first bottle around 3 pm. I'm hoping I can make a comeback and finish my earliest time yet. Also, because I'm going to exercise I think it'll be a lot easier to drink water because I'll be thirsty. I'm on my second bottle of the day and I'm going to chop up some cucumbers and put them in my water just to get some extra flavoring. It is just after 7 and I finished my full gallon of water for the day! Adding the cucumbers was a very good idea because it was the opposite experience of infusing the water like I did yesterday. It felt two times more refreshing and it felt more encouraging to drink water and I was thirsty throughout the day. This is my best time yet!!
DAY 6: I started my water a little bit later today but I made my tea, and was off by 10 a.m.! I was doing a project most of the morning and early afternoon and so I only finished my first bottle around 3 pm. I had a ballet class and conditioning/floor barre so I got a lot of water drank then. And I completely finished my full gallon for the day by 8:30. I've been really loving having cucumber water because I think it is more refreshing so I continued doing that today. I have been a lot more thirsty and willing to drink water these past couple of days, especially today. So I know I'm seeing improvement and getting better.
CONCLUSION: So, I have learned a ton from doing this, including some downsides of drinking that much water. At first, I thought that this would only have pros, but it did have some cons. I learned that you should drink more water than less, but drinking too much water is super unhealthy and does more damage than good. If you have a smaller frame or are younger, you probably shouldn't drink that much water. As you know, I kind of only did 6 days, because on the 7th day I felt super sick and bloated. I do think however that this was a good experience for me to have and made me a healthier person altogether. I'm just saying, if you are a teen like me, please do not drink 1 gallon of water unless you're ready for it. Other then that, I felt like I was really energized, and overall I felt better about myself. It was really mood-boosting. My weight stayed the same, which I don't really care about, but I think it was because I am pretty light to start off with. I did a little bit more research on this too! I was a little bit underwhelmed with my results, so I looked into what are the scientific effects of drinking that much water for a week. It's more about healthier changes on the inside for the first couple of weeks. I know that my kidneys thanked me and that my body was happy and hydrated. So if you get not completely clear skin, and bloating, and headaches, and no weight loss, just know that every sip that you take of water does a huge change in your body. I felt so good after I knew that. My new plan is to maybe drink a HALF gallon of water this time plus tea not included.
Stay safe and happy!
